New Art Highlights

12 - 18 September

New Art Highlights of the week includes: Alexandra March, Patrick Haughton, Shelly Goldsmith and Chris Dunseath

Missive, 2022 by Alexandra March

Alexandra March

Missive is a 365 project, where I produce a collage a day for 2022. The project uses postcards and vintage collage papers to map the margins of the nude. Pushing at the form, the gesture, the structures around and constructing it. Much of my collage is interested in liminal spaces, edges, negative spaces, openings and the like. The gaps leave you space to think or fill as you may.

“We can now place the female nude not only at the centre of the definition of art, but also on the edge of the category, pushing against the limit, brushing against obscenity. The female nude is the border..” Lynda Nead

Another Universe, 2015 by Chris Dunseath

Chris Dunseath

This sculpture continues my involvement with aspects of theoretical physics and also a current project working in the Heritage Stores of the Museum of Somerset where I was particularly interested in the collection of Bronze Age artefacts and bronze cauldrons. The sculpture was hand made by the lost paper process. The interior of the cratered moon contains a myriad of stars.
