Concepts Currently my work is dealing with the themes of colour, depth, space and movement. For example in 'Opal Minuet' where the thin lines dance across the upper half of the painting, while the disks float either forward or recede. Movement in 'Tango' is achieved by both the composition. Although the works are expressed in abstract terms, they do most frequently have a starting point in the visible world, either something seen or experienced. Much of my work is done in series, that is, the paintings can both 'stand alone' or hang together as a group. My working methods and the current nature of the paintings makes them suitable for gallery spaces, domestic and corporate interiors. Influences Cultural, sign, symbol, music. Career path My career path was until 1999 an ongoing combination, of lecturing in further and higher education while at the same time producing my own work. Following my decision to leave teaching and concentrate solely on my painting, I have had a series of solo exhibitions - at New Hall College, Cambridge; Broughton House Gallery, Cambridge and The Castle, Wellingborough. These together with a number of group shows - The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London Art House E1 Gallery, The Original Art Gallery Bastard, Sweden, Hunter Gallery, Long Melford and the Modern Artists Gallery, Whitchurch-on -Thames, plus a number of others. I have made an on going commitment to upgrading my skills. This has included an Open University Arts Degree and a year at Goldsmiths College - Post Graduate in Textiles. Also numerous short courses in print making. I was awarded a place on AA2A at University of Hertfordshire 2002. Private Collections and New Hall Collection, New Hall, Cambridge.
